Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose says the honour done to Late Chief MKO Abiola by President Mohammadu Buhari is strictly for political reasons ahead of the 2019 presidential elections.
Fayose while addressing journalists at the government house in Ado Ekiti, said however that the honour is a welcome development and a step in the right direction.
He further asked the president to step up the game by declaring the late MKO winner of the poll and President-elect as only then would the title so conferred have constitutional backing.
The late Chief MKO Abiola had won the June 12, 1993; Presidential poll but was denied the position by the then head of state, Ibrahim Babangida.
