The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged a former Deputy Governor of Bauchi, Babayo Garba Gamawa, before the Federal High Court, Bauchi for alleged conspiracy and money laundering, involving the sum of N500 million.
The ex-deputy governor is being charged alongside 2 former Secretaries to the State Government and 3 other chieftains of the PDP.
The commission says the accused, in 2015, illegally received the sum of N500 million from the Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison Madueke, before the general elections of that year, to facilitate the campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The presiding judge, Mohammed Shitu, however, adjourned the hearing of their case to September 25th, 2018 and ordered that one of the accused, Ahmed Dandija, who was absent due to ill health, must appear before the Court on the date.
Gamawa is the current deputy national chairman of the opposition PDP.
