Zimbabwe's economy under fire as lockdown effects bite hard

President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has revealed that diamond-mining firms are the biggest looters in the country.

This discovery led to the issuance of a three-month suspension, which was again extended by two weeks to all culprits. Mnangagwa warned that anyone who defaults would be punished as prescribed by the law.

China tops the list of countries where loot was taken to with many more Chinese retail companies and mining companies in Zimbabwe high on the list.

Nonetheless, there are reports of individuals such as gospel-musician-and-politician, Elias Musakwa who was said to have misappropriated and moved US$900 million to Portugal.
