Nearly 300 people have been injured and an estimated 25 people killed, in a violent volcanic eruption in Guatemala. Volcano de Fuego, which means “Volcano of Fire”, gushed an 8-kilometre stream of lava and ash that covered the entire town.
Rescuers tried to attend to injured victims, whose bodies were charred across the ground.
The Guatemalan disaster relief said the death toll had reached 25, and an estimated 3,100 people have been evacuated from the area.
