Africa’s third-largest economy, Egypt, is set to host the first intra-African trade. The fair, which will be held in Egypt, will be organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the government of Egypt.
Dr Benedict Oramah, president of Afreximbank, said that the fair will be the first of its kind in Africa, and will consist of a 7-day trade show that will provide a platform for sharing trade, investments and market information. It will also enable buyers and sellers, investors and countries to meet, discuss and finish business deals.
According to him, exhibitors can use the event as a platform to showcase their goods and services, and subsequently, conclude business deals by engaging in business-to-business exchanges.
Oramah met Egypt’s Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Dr Sahar Nasr, to discuss the banks support to the economy of Egypt and to explore how the ministry can collaborate in the Intra-African Trade Fair being organized by the Bank in Cairo in December.
Oramah said that since its inception, Afreximbank had approved financing facility totalling over $14.5billion for Egyptian corporate and financial institutions.
The minister commended Afreximbank for organizing the trade fair and said that the ministry endorsed the efforts by the bank in support of the Egyptian economy, and its contribution to promote and facilitate intra-African trade.
