Martyns Mannah, the lawmaker representing Ahoada East Constituency has defected unapologetically from PDP to APC.
He was a strong ally of Governor Nyesom Wike during his 2015 election but has recently complained bitterly about the poor welfare, management, and intimidation by the speaker of the house.
He made the announcement on Saturday and took with him over 3000 of his supporters. During his announcement, he said he had come to deliver a simple message which was for his people to accept change as Rivers State has never been in opposition and is not proficient in it.
He also expressed his concerns regarding the State’s inability to work with the Federal Government, which has led to the lack of implementation of any constituency project in the last three years under PDP’s leadership.
He further apologized for being used as a tool to lie to the people and pledged that those of them who have moved to APC will ensure that PDP has a next to zero chance of winning the elections come 2019.
