Reports say about 25 persons were on Thursday abducted in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna state.
They were reportedly abducted between the Kiryoyi and Maganda villages, along the Birnin-Gwari-Funtua road.
Danladi Duniya, Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in Birnin-Gwari, while confirming the occurrence, could not accurately state the number of people taken, but said all of the passengers were abducted.
The Chairman added that the kidnappers intercepted five vehicles and that one of the drivers was, however, able to escape.
He stated that this is has become a regular occurrence in that area, and urged the authorities to look into it.
The Kaduna State Police Command spokesman, Aliyu Mukhtar is yet to comment on this incident.
