National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, backs down on seeking re-election as chairman in the June 23 National Convention, giving room to former Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole, who had him as his major opposition to securing the position.
Oyegun announced this to newsmen in Abuja on Friday, adding that his decision was made after careful consultation with close political associates and family members, and not out of intimidation as this was in the best interest of the party.
There were speculations earlier that Oyegun was backing down from seeking re-election as President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC governors had endorsed Oshiomole.
