A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has asked the Nigeria Police Force to pay N10m as compensation to the family of a commercial driver, Alimi Hakeem, murdered by the Force.
Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel, the presiding judge, ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to investigate the killing and punish the culprit, Ifeayin Nbu.
The son of the deceased, Afeez Hakeem, had approached the court to ask the Nigeria Police Force, to pay compensations worth N500m for the unlawful killing of his late father.
Afeez Hakeem testified that while his father was driving along the Saki-Okere International Market Road of the state, the police murdered him because he failed to pay 100 Naira as a bribe.
