Today marks a significant day in the history of Nigeria as the President, Muhammadu Buhari today has officially signed the NOT TO YOUNG TO RUN BILL which allows for Nigerian Youths to participate actively in Politics by reducing the age requirement qualification to participate
The Bill has now become an Act of Parliament as at 2:40 pm this afternoon.
With this bill, the eligible age for candidates for the Presidency has been reduced from 40 to 35 years, for the House of Representatives it is down from 30 to 25 years, while that of the State House of Assembly has been reduced from 30 to 25 years.
The age limit for Governors and Senators was, however, not reduced as was proposed in the bill.
The signing of the bill amends Sections 65, 106, 131, and 177 of the 1999 Constitution.
It’s better days ahead for Nigeria as we anticipate futuristic plans to take Nigeria forward we hope.
