Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a Former Minister of Special duties under President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, has declared his intention to run for President in the upcoming 2019 election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Turaki, who declared his intention at a media parley, Wednesday, in Abuja, said his interest in the position is borne out of his dissatisfaction with the situation of things in the country. He said he is desirous of an opportunity to make available his wealth of experience gained over the years.
Turaki also unveiled his campaign team, with the former governor of Adamawa state, Mr. Boni Haruna, as Director-General and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Steve Oruh, as Deputy Director-General, South.
The former minister claimed he was given the go-ahead by most leaders of the country, including former President Jonathan; and didn’t see the number of PDP aspirants as challenge to his desire or the party, as he believes PDP can bring a number of people who will do far better than the present APC government is doing.
On the issue of arrest by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) he pointed out that after leaving office in 2015, he was properly investigated with nothing found on him. He is certain that his integrity and good track record are among his assets.
Turaki claims he has supporters all over the country, as he is aware that his posters were being posted everywhere, even before his public declaration to run.
