The political unrest, which has been on for about a month in Nicaragua has led to the recent killing of one government official and injury to three people. The victim who was shot, Jorge Gaston died in the hospital on Friday.
The police spokeswoman, Vilma Gonzalez, while addressing the issue on Sunday, accredited the killings done over the past month to acts by criminal vandalism groups.
The death toll as a result of this civil unrest which began April 28, has risen to 84 with over 860 injured.
The unrest has been as a result of the rejection by many Nicaraguans of President Daniel Ortega and his wife, Rosario Murillo, showing their frustrations over corruption, the President’s autocratic style of governing, control over the congress, the courts, the military and electoral authority.
