The number of confirmed cases of Cholera in Mubi, Adamawa State, had risen to 434 with 13 deaths recorded, as on Saturday. Information Officer of The Adamawa State Ministry of Health, Abubakar Muhammed, who released the figures in Yola, the capital city of the North-Eastern Nigerian state, on Sunday, also gave a breakdown of the fatalities. According to him, the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) is 3.0 percent. Mubi North has a CFR of 3.3 percent with 211 cases recorded and 7 deaths, while Mubi South has a CFR of 2.7 percent with 223 cases and 6 deaths. DR. Ezra Sakawa, the Principal Medical Officer of Mubi General Hospital, pointed out that most of the infected patients had responded well to treatment and had been sent home. The outbreak in Mubi has been on for two weeks now and the source, according to investigations, has been linked to contaminated borehole water intended for irrigation purposes.
