President Donald Trump, has addressed the media on his cancellation of the planned meeting between him and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, saying America is ready and prepared, in the event that Pyongyang tries to act funny.
Trump said he had spoken with the commanders of the US military, which he considers by far the most powerful in the world, and they have assured him that they are ready if necessary. He said that the US is more ready than ever before.
He said his emphasis on readiness also includes South Korea and Japan accepting to shoulder any financial burden in a case where North Korea tries any “foolish and reckless acts”.
In the final analysis, the US president said, it is his belief that North and South Korea should be able to live in prosperity and harmony, but that this harmony would only begin if the threats of nuclear weapons are removed.
In a seeming reaction to the aborted summit, a spokesperson for British Prime Minister Theresa May said: “We are disappointed that the President’s talks with North Korean leader will no longer hold”.
However, Trump told the press conference that there are possibilities of many things happening, and that a great opportunity lies ahead. he said he, however believes that the cancelled talks is a setback for both North Korea and a setback to the world.
