The ICT industry in Nigeria is set to get a major shot in the arm, as the popular Google Impact Challenge has finally come to Nigeria
The initiative is aimed at providing grants to non-profit organizations using technology to improve lives in Nigeria.
Announcing the launch, at a formal presentation in Lagos yesterday, Google Nigeria’s Chief Marketing Officer, Affiong Osuchukwu, said the competition is now open from May 23, 2018, to July 4, 2018.
Osuchukwu confirmed the Google Impact Challenge initiative, which is coming to Africa for the first time, was deliberately planned to commence with Nigeria.
The most innovative 12 organizations will be nominated through the challenge, and four lucky winners will the awarded the sum of $250,000 each, while eight runners-up will take away $125,000.
This is one of the ways Google is looking to improve the state of social enterprise in Nigeria and encourage non-profits to grow.
