With barely 24 hours left to the May 22 public holiday declared by the Benue State government to give a befitting burial to the victims of the recent herdsmen attack on farming communities in the state, the bloodthirsty gunmen struck again on Sunday night, killing yet another five persons.
The latest attack, which took place between the hours of 11:30pm and 11:55pm, was on Michia settlement in Gaambe-Tiev, Logo Local Government Area.
Chairman of the local government, Richard Nyajo, confirmed the attack, stating that the massacre was carried out by 10 men who opened fire at people while they slept. Some items discovered after the attackers left, include ATM cards which have now been handed over to the police as evidence.
