The government of Benue State yesterday declared Tuesday, May 22, a public holiday to show respect for the two Catholic priests murdered alongside 17 worshippers by armed Fulani herdsmen at St. Ignatius’ Catholic Church, in Mbalom, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue.
President Muhammadu Buhari has since deployed troops to the state to stop the killings following condemnation of the gruesome killings.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, has also slated peaceful protests for catholic faithful across the country on the same day.
