A Chinese Airline was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday. This came as a result of the co-pilot being sucked halfway out of the plane as the windshield had been blown out.

Captain Liu Chuanjian, who was left responsible for the remainder of the flight, has been hailed as a hero in China after having to land the Airbus on his own.

The emergency landing came as a result of a sudden loss of pressure and drop in temperature which immediately removed the cockpit’s windshield, with no warning.

“Everything in the cockpit was floating in the air. Most of the equipment malfunctioned … and I couldn’t hear the radio. The plane was shaking so hard I could not read the gauges,” the pilot told Reuters.

The co-pilot has minor injuries and is said to be recovering, whilst an investigation into how the incident took place is ongoing.
