The federal government has paid out N439.276 million to 14 informers for providing intelligence on persons evading taxes.
Finance Minister, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, speaking with journalists confirmed the disbursement was made this week, after the affected tax evaders, mainly corporate bodies, paid N13.8 billion to the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
Mrs Adeosun said that under the Voluntary Asset and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS), they have received more information on tax evasions.
She revealed that federal government efforts towards prosecuting alleged tax evaders are vigorous, especially with the tax amnesty to end at the end of June.
Meanwhile, Mrs Adeosun says the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) is tackling payroll irregularities, which have been linked to the presence of ghost workers.
Regarding the implementation of the 2017 Budget, The Finance Minister says she is positive that before June, about N1. 5 trillion would have been expended on capital projects.
