The Nigeria Police says it will be going to court to challenge the resolutions of the Nigerian Senate against the Inspector General Of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
The Commissioner Of Police (Legal), Force Headquarters, David Igbodo, who explained that the IG acted according to the law by delegating the DIG to represent him, disclosed that it has become essential for the court to interpret whether it is necessary for the IG to honour the National Assembly’s invitation personally.
The Senate first summoned the IG to appear before it on Wednesday, April 25 and sent a second summons a week later after the police boss boycotted the Senate and failed to appear.
The senators had consequently declared the IGP a threat to democracy and unfit to hold public office in Nigeria or abroad.
