A former Deputy Director of the Department of State Security, Marilyn Ogar, has dragged the DSS to the National Industrial Court over her compulsory retirement in 2015, seven years before her due retirement date.

Ogar, who used to be the spokesperson of the DSS, and was retired alongside 14 others, joined both the Attorney-General of the Federation and D-G of the DSS in her suit.

She wants the court to, among other things, declare that her retirement was illegal and nullify her demotion from Deputy Director to Assistant Director.

When the case came up for mention, before Justice Olufunke Anuwe, on Friday, however, none of the defendants was in court, although they were all said to have been served the originating summons.

Ms Ogar’s counsel, Adeola Adedipe, said the defendants actually entered a conditional appearance, but failed to file any counter processes within 14 days of service of the originating summons.

Justice Anuwe, therefore, adjourned the case until June 25 for hearing but ordered that the defendants be served hearing notice.
