As much as 400,000 children are in danger of starving to death unless benevolent aid efforts are increased, the UN’s children’s agency has cautioned.
Battling between government powers and territorial local army in the Congo’s focal Kasai area has made an ideal tempest of neediness, hardship and struggle for the most defenceless youngsters, according to UNICEF who made a statement on Friday.
It called for crucial action to stop brutality against kids; guarantee access to fundamental services for all minors, and offer help for managed philanthropic assistance.
An estimate of 770,000 children are suffering from severe hunger, 400,000 of whom are suffering from dire starvation and are on the verge of dying.
UNICEF has called for $88m to address the emergency, saying it has left 3.8 million individuals in the Kasai area needing help.
The organisation will be showing its report with government authorities at a media question and answer session in Kinshasa on Saturday.
