ARMY KILLS 8 BANDITS IN ZAMFARA

The Nigerian Army has confirmed it killed 8 gunmen in an exchange of gunfire yesterday in the Maru local government area of Zamfara state.

According to Major Clement Abiade, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, there was an exchange of gunfire between soldiers from Gasau, who were going on clearance operations in the state as a result of previous attacks in the state.

Abiade said about 8 of the bandits were killed while some others escaped after sustaining bullet wounds.

Items recovered from the bandits include 5 motorcycles and 5 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

Reassuring the commitment of the Nigerian Army to flush out all such bandits from the area, the army spokesman then appealed to members of the public to provide any information that would be useful in apprehending the escaped bandits and other attackers in the state.
