The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, which is under the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, has alerted of the possible flood in 34 out of the 36 states of Nigeria.

In its 2018 annual Flood Outlook (AFO), the agency warned that 28 out of these states are highly forecast to experience flood-related threats during this rainy period.

The Acting Director-General of the Agency, Mr O.M Ogunwale, said the situation would however not reach the magnitude experienced by the nation last year.

According to the new report, some local government areas of some states in the North and Middle belt are is likely to experience floods.

The report identified some other states such as Ondo, Akwa-Ibom, Cros-River, Enugu, Rivers, and Imo.

The annual Flood Outlook also predicted flash and urban flooding in some areas.

The document revealed that there might be floods in all eight hydrological areas across the country.
