Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has confirmed that the popular Mile 12 Market traders will soon be moved to a new market at Imota, which, he said, would be prepared to receive them before the end of December.
Currently located at Ketu, the market has not only been described as one of the filthiest in the state, it has also contributed to the regular traffic congestion in the area.
The governor, through the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Adebowale Akinsanya, said the first phase of the plan, intended to accommodate about 1,500 shops, is 75 percent completed and would be ready before the end of this year.
The governor is hopeful, that by the end of 2018, all the different markets in Mile 12 would be able to move to Imota, which would have facilities such as 1,000 capacity car park, over 100 capacity trailer park, power stations, sewage system and treatment, bus lay-by, fire stations, concretized roads, and drainages.
