The former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang was on Monday in court on a 12-count fraud charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for embezzling over N6.3 billion just before the penultimate month of his tenure as governor in 2015.

Based on the charges against him, Jang was accused of embezzling special funds disbursed by CBN which includes a 2 billion Naira fund which was meant for small and medium enterprises in Plateau state under the umbrella of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Funds.

He was also accused of misusing the power of his position by collecting N4.3 billion from the state coffers through the pipeline of the Office of the Secretary of the State Government.

Although the charge has been issued to Jang, a date for arraignment is yet to be fixed.
