Diamond Bank, Fidelity boost financial inclusion with N543m prizes
Diamond Bank and Fidelity Bank have rewarded over 5000 customers with over N543 Billion as a way of encouraging savings and boosting financial inclusion in Nigeria.
While Diamond Bank rewarded over 4,900 customers with N433 million, through its ‘DiamondXtra’ savings promo, Fidelity Bank gave out N110 million to about 185 customers via its ‘Get Alert in a Million’ promo.
Fidelity Bank’s Executive Director, Shared Services, Mrs Chijioke Ogochukwu, said the promo was also a way of supporting the Central Bank’s financial inclusion strategy, adding that it also brings to light the benefits of saving to many people, who, ordinarily, would not entertain the idea.
On its part, Diamond Bank, last week, gave out a brand new Hyundai Accent to one of its customers, while other lucky winners were awarded education grants and cash prizes.
Kari Tukur, the bank’s Head of Consumer Banking, said the scheme was brought about as a means to get Nigerians accustomed to saving.
The ‘DiamondXtra saving promo is in its 10th season. Previous seasons have rewarded customers with over N5 billion collectively.
To qualify for the monthly draw, existing customers are required to grow their balances while maintaining NGN 5000 deposit every month, while potential customers are expected to open a ‘DiamondXtra’ account with a minimum of N5000 and grow balances from there.
