All 133,324 shortlisted candidates for employment in the Police Force are to undergo a mental assessment, as well as HIV and Hepatitis screening. The women among them will, additionally, go through a pregnancy test.
A statement from Force Headquarters said the exercise will begin across the country on Monday. It also advised screening officers to be impartial and transparent.
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, further advised state commands to be thorough and ensure a hitch-free process devoid of unethical practices.
The IGP said successful candidates, after the screening process, will be asked, for the first time, to pass an aptitude test which is to be conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in order to ensure transparency and get the best out of the candidates.
In addition, the medical inspection would be carried out for each applicant in a visual evaluation, general medical tests, and psychological evaluation.
The IGP also directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Training and Development, to observe and evaluate the exercise in all states, and the Federal Capital Territory in order to ensure the facilitation of best practices across board.
