Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, has accused the federal government of masterminding efforts to block the opposition’s accounts using security and anti-graft agencies.
Wike on Wednesday said that the scheme involves the use of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practice and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), to freeze the accounts of state governments in opposition to the APC-led Federal government.
He said this was to weaken their financial strength ahead of the 2019 elections.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party had raised concerns earlier over a plot to set up Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Nyesom Wike, Governor Ayodele Fayose, and other top party faithful.
