Tiger mosquitoes are now found in twice as much of France as it was two years ago and this has caused worries for the French government,  which believes infected travelers returning from overseas are responsible for the spread of diseases by domestic mosquitoes.

The Mosquitoes, also known as Tiger Mozzie, carry several diseases such as Dengue fever, Chikungunya virus and Zika virus. Forty-two regions in France have been warned to take precautions in preparation for the summer.

A statement from the French government’s health department, said awareness of the threats from the pest, known medically as Aedes albopictus, should be of paramount importance from May to the end of November.

Antilles, French Polynesia, Central and South America, Seychelles and some Pacific islands are believed to be affected by this dangerous pest.

The parts of France that the French government is most worried about are mostly across the south of France.
