Following a full week of threats of retribution after an averred use of chemical weapon in its attack on the Damascus enclave of Douma by the Bashar Assad government, the United States, and its allies, UK and France have collaboratively launched strikes on three sites in Syria.

The first strike according to Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff was targeted at a scientific research center in greater Damascus involved in the development and production of chemical weapons the other sites includes a chemical weapons storage facility west of Homs, while the third was at a chemical equipment storage facility.

President of the United States, Donald Trump said on Fray evening: “I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapon capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,”

He is convinced that the collaborative effort of The US, UK and France will will integrate all instruments of their national power: military, economic and diplomatic,”

The air strikes were said to have launched at 9p.m ET. It was confirmed by the Syrian Army that 110 missiles were fired on the Syrian targets but the country’s defense system intercepted most of the missiles. They however confirmed that the Research Center in Barzeh was hit by the missiles.

It was also confirmed by the Russian news agency that none of the missiles hit areas around their air and naval bases in Syria.

It was however reported by the Syrian State TV that three civilians were injured in Homs.
