The first ever luxury hotel Aurora Station as it has been named, will host its first set of guests in 2022.
This was announced April 6, 2017, during the Space 2.0 summit in San Jose, California. The space hotel promises to accommodate 6 space travellers with two crew members included in the number. Aurora Station staff consists of a team of space veterans at Orion Span.
At 3.4 billion Naira ($9.5 million) per person, the person gets 12 days in space. Speaking at the summit, Frank Bunger, CEO and founder of Orion Span, said Aurora station would begin operation once it’s launched and space travellers will have the opportunity to travel at a lower price point than has ever been seen.
The travellers stay on Aurora Station would avail them the opportunity to grow food while in orbit, experience 16 sunrises and sunsets every 24 hours, zero gravity, exquisite earth views, internet access, and many other priceless benefits.
Each space traveller will take part in an intensive 3-month Orion Space Astronaut Certification (OSAC) program.
Bunger also mentioned the architectural design allowing for future expansion due to increased market demand and overtime, adding that space would soon be able for sale to those interested in getting a Space Condo.
