The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has sanctioned the treatment abroad of some soldiers who sustained serious injuries fighting the terror group Boko Haram.
The position of the COAS was revealed by Brig. Gen. Adekola Dada, Acting Chief Medical Officer of 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Yaba in Lagos at the weekend.
Dada who spoke while conducting a tour of the modernized hospital, said the decision to treat the soldiers abroad further underscores the importance the Force attaches to the soldiers.
In this light, he said, seven of the injured personnel involved in the fight against insurgents will be flown to India, Egypt or United Kingdom to be better treated.
The Chief Medical officer also restated that the fatality figures from the battle in the North East were dropping and that this was a clear signal that the Nigerian Army personnel are succeeding against the rebels.
