Kogi State government says it stands on its ground that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, must apologise for embarrassing the state and its citizens by associating it with a 20 billion Naira bailout allegation fraud.
Briefing Lugard House Correspondents after its weekly State Executive Council meeting, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, hinted that the state will seek redress should the anti-graft agency fails to do the needful.
After weeks of accusation and defence before the public court between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Kogi State government on the allegation that Kogi State government allegedly fixed its 20 billion Naira bailout funds in an account to yield interest, the EFCC this week withdrew the case against the Kogi State government from the court.
The construction of office and residential quarters for the mobile police unit in Okene to boost security in the state was also approved at the exco meeting.
With the comparative advantage of the large availability of solid minerals in the state, Fanwo revealed the government’s plans to boost internal revenue generation through solid mineral explorations.
The sum of 18 billion Naira was also announced as council’s approval for external debt servicing.
Feelers from the council meeting suggested that Governor Yahaya Bello may in the coming days, present the 2022 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, with education being rumoured to gulp about 30 per cent of the entire proposal.
